When I started copywriting I was taught to
pull on people’s pain points.
To get “inside their heads.”'
To speak to their innermost fears.
Stuff like that.
Well, none of that ever felt particularly fun or good or kind.
But it’s what I was taught.
There was always a niggling feeling inside of me, though…
“Surely, there’s gotta be a different way of doing things?!”
Kinda like where you’re at right now.
It’s taken me LOTS of learning and unlearning (an ongoing process!) but thankfully, I’ve found coaches, mentors, and service providers who, like me and you, believe you can sell your badass services AND be your one-of-a-kind self, all while making those world-changing moves & not using unethical copywriting or marketing tactics.
And what’s more — your people will love you even harder when your copy sounds and feels like YOU.
My approach to copywriting is centered on bringing the true you to the forefront, in fun and out-of-the-coffin ways, while amplifying your message so you can make a bigger impact.
This starts with copy that’s clear, compelling, curiosity-inducing, honest, and most importantly, human.
It’s key to remember that making the vow to be an ethical business-owner doesn’t always mean you’ll get it perfect. FAR from it. That goes for me, too. It’s an embodiment and an ongoing journey.
But this doesn’t mean you’re not qualified enough, knowledgeable enough, or active enough to speak out about what’s important to you, or how you feel.
When it comes to activism of any kind, it’s really all the little steps that add up.
Even the smallest shifts—in your copy, content, marketing, and approach—really DO make a difference. YOU can make a difference.
It’s ok if you’re not the “perfect” environmentalist, social justice warrior, or even the “perfect” entrepreneur!
What matters most is the conversations you’re willing to have and the discomfort you’re open to experiencing.
That fire in your gut that makes you want to speak out? The one that’s longing for change? 🎶 (Queue GaGa and Bradley 😉)
Act on it. Even if you’re afraid of getting it wrong. Even if what you want to say doesn’t come out perfectly. There’s so much work to be done in this world.
And I think one of the best ways we can make things happen is just by STARTING.
I can’t wait to partner alongside you on this wild journey we call entrepreneurship: imperfectly, beautifully, together.
